Change the following direct speech sentences into indirect speech sentences. This work out will make you understand the concept of the language more efficiently:

  1. I said, “I am waiting for my friend”.
  2. The villager said, “It becomes difficult for us to survive without electricity here specially at nights”.
  3. Mother told us, “You will return home before 6 o’ clock in the evening”.
  4. I said to the servant, “Please get a glass of water for me”.
  5. Pamela said to me, “I have received the gift yesterday”.
  6. Rajiv said to me, “I am leaving for America tomorrow”.
  7. Manish said to us, “We will win the tournament”.
  8. I said to Kiran, “I have not taken the pen from here”.
  9. The boss said to the employees, “Stop the work and come to my cabin now”.
  10. We told to the class teacher, “Give us more time till next week.”

Answer:

  1. I said that I was waiting for my friend.
  2. The villager said that it became difficult for them to survive without electricity there specially at nights.
  3. Mother ordered us to return home before 6 o’ clock in the evening.
  4. I requested the servant to get a glass of water for me.
  5. Pamela said to me that she had received the gift the previous day.
  6. Rajiv said to me that he was leaving for America the next day.
  7. Manish said to us that we would win the tournament.
